My Coaching Experience

At 21 years old, I would be classed as a young football coach. However, I have been coaching since I was 16 years old, therefore building up 5 years of experience working within the football coaching industry. Throughout these years, I have coached many different ages, genders and abilities, and have been exposed to a variety of different coaching methods. For the past 5 years, I have always been in around the grassroots scene of football, and would consider myself quite knowledgeable about grassroots coaching. I say this because I am a student of the game and take the time to view other coaches, managers and parents, so I can fully understand how best to coach at this level.

Previous companies I have worked for include: Stoke City, Leeds United, Leeds City Council, University of Leeds. My time at these various clubs & companies has allowed me to be exposed to a variety of situations, where everyone is different from the other. With Stoke City, I would be teaching 6 year olds the basics of football, whereas with the University of Leeds I would be coaching a high press to the women’s first team. I am grateful for all of this experience, as I am confident in my coaching ability for any person who I may come across.

The game of football I have always been passionate about, ever since I began playing at 6 years old. Getting in to coaching was another way to enjoy my passion and it’s a job I love. I am fortunate enough that I do a job I love and have been able to experience parts of the world through football. I have been out to Holland where I played against local teams and I have been lucky enough to go out to Norway and deliver coaching sessions to locals of the areas I was based at.

As well as being a football coach, I also have an upper second class degree in sport and exercise science. Having this degree greatly benefits the service I am able to offer. This is because I understand the human at a deeper level than most, such as how they learn skills, physiology of exercise, biomechanics of moving.

This extra knowledge can then be implemented into my coaching, as I use concepts which I have learnt in my three years studying, to further enhance the learning experience of the players I come across.
